Home Energy Survey Professional and Rater
Provider Services
RESNET Standards mandate that every Home Energy Survey Professional (HESP) and Diagnostic HESP must enter into a written agreement with and be certified by a RESNET provider. A RESNET provider is a RESNET accredited Home Energy Survey Provider. Comprehensive Home Energy Analysts (CHEAs), Rating Field Inspectors and HERS Raters must all be certified by a RESNET HERS Rating Provider. RESNET providers are responsible for a number of RESNET provider duties.
RESNET provider duties include:
- Documentation of having passed the appropriate RESNET exam for each level of certification
- Regular oversight by the Provider's Quality Assurance Designee
- Prior to certification of the candidate, the Provider must review the appropriate number of surveys or audits to ensure competency
- The provider must also evaluate a minimum of 10% of the surveys and/or ratings performed
- Maintenance of all quality assurance files
- Documentation that the required continuing education units are being completed
- Maintenance of a Registry of all certified Professionals to be regularly reported to RESNET
- Providing the appropriate Report Software
The HET Institute is an accredited RESNET HESP Provider. Through our partnership with Guaranteed Watt Savers (GWS), we are also able to offer RESNET Provider Services to HERS Raters and Comprehensive Analysts including performance of required on-site evaluations.
Our annual RESNET Provider fee for HESPs, Diagnostic HESPs and Rating Field Inspectors is $250. Our Provider Services include the usage of our ecompass Home Energy Report System at a discounted rate.
The annual GWS Provider fee for HERS Raters and Comprehensive Home Energy Analysts is $375. If you are providing a report other than a rating or comprehensive analysis, then you will be using our ecompass Home Energy Report System at a discounted rate. If you are furnishing a HERS Rating or CHEA, you will be provided with access to RemRate. Raters and analysts are subject to travel and time fees if and when on-site QA evaluations by our QA Designee are required.
